# Hobfolk

> Hobfolk is a multi-agent development environment: a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux where a team of specialized AI agents, shown as characters in a pixel-art office, plans, codes, tests and reviews software in your project folder. It drives the AI coding CLIs already installed on your computer, with your own login and plan, so it needs no new API key.

- You ask in one sentence, in plain language. The team lead (a product owner agent) triages the request, asks only the questions that change the result (always with options, the recommended one first) and breaks the work down on a kanban board.
- It is multi-agent, not a single assistant: the lead picks who does each step (design, architecture, code, QA, review), each specialist keeps its own conversation, hands its result to whoever comes next, and a question from a teammate goes up the chain of command, reaching you only when nobody on the team can decide it.
- Each step runs on the model it needs, from any AI coding CLI you enabled, so one mission can mix steps on Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and others. Triage and coordination use the lightest model, with no tools and a lean context; a step that gets stuck is taken over by a stronger model where it stopped. Every step has a token budget, and the window shows budget × spend for each one, live.
- Independent steps run in parallel, each in its own workspace, and test runs wait in a queue instead of fighting for the machine. Several requests can be in flight at once, each starting with whoever is free. When one CLI runs out of quota or its login expires, the step carries on in another CLI without redoing the plan.
- Nothing reaches Done until the project’s own lint, tests and build pass and a reviewer agent other than the author approves; a rejection goes back to the author with the reason. Every mission has a restore point, so one click undoes it. Mistakes become project lessons that the next mission starts out knowing.
- It works on new and existing projects: the first time, the team studies the project and finds its commands before changing anything.
- Every project starts as a startup with the lead and two more agents (designer, architect, developer, QA and reviewer roles). An HR agent hires more people for the role that became the bottleneck, and the company moves up to scale-up and big tech as demand grows, with more process at each stage.
- Hobfolk runs on your machine and works in your folders. The models only receive what the CLIs themselves send, just as when you use them directly.
- You can follow the team from your phone by scanning a QR code.
- The app, the site and the account pages are available in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Using Hobfolk requires a Hobfolk account.

## FAQ

- **Do I need an API key?** No. Hobfolk uses the AI CLIs on your computer, with the login and plan you already have.
- **Do I need to write elaborate prompts?** No. One sentence, your way, is enough: the lead turns it into a plan and only asks what changes the result.
- **Will it burn through my quota?** It spends where it matters: triage and coordination use the lightest model, each step runs on the model it needs and the window shows budget × spend for each one.
